How Long Can an Equipment Item Run Before It Fails?

Choose from several diiferent reliability analysis methods. The method in the example above estimates the chance of the analyzed equipment item failing for any reason (breakdown cause) during a 100 hour production run. This equipment item (Fryer #1) has a 14.00% chance of failing during a 100 hour production run. Stated another way the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) is 662 hours. In other words based on historic data this equipment item will usually run an average of 662 hours before failing. The Causes of Failures tab on the screen-shot above answers questions regarding exactly why this Fryer fails and how to apply PM tasks to circumvent these expected failures.

The options menu item includes the sub-menu item Define a Failure. Is a failure any time the equipment fails or perhaps failures should only be counted if the down time exceeds a certain user defined time period, say 5 minutes. By using the Define a Failure function you have control over when a failure is used in a reliability analysis scenario.
