What Tasks Should I Assign to Prevent Failures?
MaintSmart contains a unique feature that actually
performs reliability analysis on an equipment item based on the item's
failure causes. In this case the Fryer #1 had a
MTBF (average time between failures) of approximately 45
days for the break down cause 100 Out of Time. Now that you know
what is causing failures and how
often the Fryer #1 can be expected to fail you may take
the appropriate steps to prevent these failure causes. By
simply right mouse-clicking the grid row containing the breakdown cause
you may access the PM list configuration section and add tasks to the PM task
list for this equipment item. Next 'map' (associate) the break down causes with the preventive tasks. The next screen-shot
displays the results.
By monitoring the failure
rate direction (increasing or decreasing) and the MTBF (larger is
better) you may find that you can virtually eliminate all preventable failures on all
of your equipment. Periodic tweaking of tasks and task intervals is usually a good idea in order to
meet current conditions.
